Manual charging and discharging

Your battery, your rules

Normally your SOLIO decides by itself when your battery charges and discharges. With manual charging and discharging you can, as an exception, set whether and at what power the battery charges or discharges, for example to fill it up before a forecast storm.

At a glance

  • You will find the function in the menu under Storage system. If it is set up for several batteries, each has its own entry, for example “Beladung Cluster”, “Fenecon Beladung” or “GoodWe Beladung”.
  • There are four modes: On, Charge Once, Discharge Once and Off.
  • In everyday use the mode is set to Off. Your SOLIO then controls the battery automatically as usual.
  • Charging from the grid and discharging into the grid must be explicitly allowed.
  • Your installer or SOLTEGRA sets up the function. If you do not see the entry, it has not been set up for your system.

The four modes

ModeWhat happens
OnThe battery charges or discharges permanently at the power you set. This stays the same until you change the mode again.
Charge OnceThe battery charges at the set power until it is full or reaches the chosen target state of charge. The function then switches itself to Off.
Discharge OnceThe battery discharges at the set power until it is empty or reaches the chosen target state of charge. The function then switches itself to Off.
OffNo manual setting. Your SOLIO controls the battery automatically.

The Charge Once and Discharge Once modes are available from SOLIO version 2026.6.2. With older versions you only see On and Off.

How to charge or discharge the battery

Open the entry

Expand Cockpit → Storage system in the menu and click the entry for your battery.

Choose the mode

Click On, Charge Once or Discharge Once. The matching input fields appear below.

Set the power

In On mode, choose whether the battery should charge or discharge and enter the power in watts. For the one-off modes, enter the power. With the Target state of charge switch you can also set the state of charge in per cent at which the process ends.

Allow grid operation

Below you will see the switch Allow active charging from the grid or Allow active discharge into the grid. Without this permission the setting usually has no effect. Read the notice that appears when you switch it on.

Save

As soon as you have changed something, a round button with a tick appears at the bottom. Click it to apply the setting.

At the top of the page, the condition line shows the active mode. While the battery is charging or discharging, the line below shows Charge or Discharge with the power your SOLIO actually sets.

Charging from the grid and feeding in from the battery

If your battery actively charges from the grid or feeds battery power into the grid, the storage system must be registered for this. Grid electricity in the battery can also affect subsidies or your feed-in tariff. Clarify this with your installer beforehand.

Good to know

Why does the battery not charge at the set power? Your SOLIO always respects the limits of your battery and your grid connection. If the requested power is higher than the battery or the grid connection currently allows, it is reduced automatically. The Charge or Discharge line shows the value that is actually set. A full battery cannot charge any further and an empty battery cannot discharge any further.

The setting has no effect. Check that the switch Allow active charging from the grid or Allow active discharge into the grid is turned on.

The one-off process stopped early. If the battery cannot charge or discharge at all for ten minutes, your SOLIO ends the one-off process and switches to Off. This prevents a setting from remaining active unnoticed.

Back to Off afterwards

In On mode your setting remains until you change it. Set the mode back to Off afterwards so that your SOLIO optimises the battery by itself again.
